Recipes for Change: How to Start a Time Bank
Просмотров 8 тыс.9 лет назад
Time banks are an amazing way for communities to share the things they love to do with each other using time instead of money as currency. The concept is simple: 1. You spend 1 hour doing something for someone in your community and 2. You earn one “time dollar” that goes into the time bank. 3. You spend your time dollar having someone do something for you and then 4. Repeat! The time bank movem...

Rejecting society and its values means society rejects you. Only go down this path if you're okay being literally rejected by almost everyone you know. Family, friends, co-workers. Everyone else at work knows why they're there - for money to buy stuff and to compete against you for money to buy stuff. Materialism *is* the basis of modern society and the only exceptions are extremely impoverished societies that haven't converted to a consumption based economy.

I've never had my Rolex stab me in the back, and it gives me great joy to admire it's beauty and craftsmanship. Every minute of every day, we see examples all over the world of how terrible people are - stealing, back stabbing, abusing, murdering, you name it. I'll take a nice ride in a Benz any day over an effort to connect with a general population of people who are destined for hell.

Thanks for the info. I had the idea for a tool library a while ago, and was glad to see others had already done it. I’m planning to start a tool library in my small town, and hopefully snowball it to the surrounding small towns and eventually even the big ones. Communal ownership is the answer to most of our problems, and tool libraries seem like a fantastic way to show people the benefits of communal ownership.

I don't see any scientific data to back any of this up, including my own life experience. Scientists say x y and z to get paid. All materialism isn't bad. It encourages people to strive to be better than average. And people who have money to be materialistic are some of the nicest I've ever met. He mentions France. They are the rudest and most materialistic people I have met.

In fact, the video is about Consumerism not Materialism. Materialism is a movement to obtain the best material possible to solve material problems. Consumerism is an enjoyment of the process buying new things and throwing them as a garbage to the land fills while material problems persist to exist.

For me the responsible of materialism is the Protestant religion. The religion incluences us and the The Protestants religion preach that the only important thing in life is to make money and work hard. For me as a catholic there are more important things, such as family and love.

One of the things I try to do is use the material things I've been blessed with to help others. I have lots of tools, and I've loaned them to neighbors and friends, or done work for them to help them out. I've also had friends lend me certain pieces of equipment that I've needed to do things around my place. I try to maintain my vehicle so it lasts longer, and won't be sent to the junk yard way too early. I compost what I can, and reuse it in my garden, but I don't beat on others about doing it. There's a lot of little things you can do to make life better without having to have all the latest gadgets. But I also try not to by cheap things that won't last that I'll have to throw away and buy another one.

Understand the big picture . So,they want x version of the world this is best model of the world. Now some people would be selected for this program and their life would be mess ,completely chaotic . You may say it's choice . No,it's not Then you would be in highly parasympathetic mode , which will lead to ms,CFS to many diseases . Then you may or may not recover from this blow and then you start to preach life should be this or that .. So in steps 1) The best world model 2)People chosen 3)They go through crisis and trauma 4)Some heal ,some face this evil ,some perish. 5)This will lead to a new model . Really.

I don't understand why people believe that materialism is about pursuit of material possessions? Materialism is philosophical idea that everything in the world are material and everything can be discovered and explain by physics, chemistry, biology etc. Everything is controlled by natural laws and we don't need to believe in something supernatural to explain processes, events and objectives in world. Materialism is not about money.
